Doha: Ooredoo has enabled an online security feature for Twitter users to enhance safety and security of customers’ data. It has also launched a new service which allows users to send tweets via SMS, a first for Qatar.
By logging into their Twitter accounts from a laptop or PC, customers can enable the Twitter login-verification service by securely registering a verified mobile phone number for their website accounts. This reduces the chances of having personal information in online accounts breached, by offering another layer of security, a fixed password and username.
The feature works by sending a short code via SMS whenever someone tries to log in to the users’ website accounts, to the number registered in their accounts, which customers must respond to in order to complete the log-in process. To activate the feature, Twitter users need to visit the Twitter website and enter their mobile numbers into the “Mobile” section of “Settings,” then click the “Security” tab and select “Send Log-in Verification Request.”
Since the launch of two-step log-in verification service, Twitter has permitted a limited number of countries and operators to support the feature globally and Ooredoo, which had been in discussion with Twitter to enable the service since its launch, is the first in Qatar to offer the two-step log-in verification.
Ooredoo and Twitter have also enabled access to Twitter for mobile, meaning users can now tweet, receive and reply to tweets via SMS. Twitter for Mobile is available by accessing the “Mobile” section under ‘Settings’ on a Twitter website account.
Customers can add their Ooredoo mobile numbers to their accounts and verify the number by sending an SMS to the short code with the keyword “Go” when prompted
