DOHA: Hundreds of Qatari students recently learned about the science, history and engineering behind flight through a travelling aviation road show co-sponsored by Boeing and Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC).
For the second year, Boeing and QAC sponsored the US-based Museum of Flight to hold interactive educational programmes at Al Khor Fly-In.
The museum also visited Qatar Academy in Al Khor where fourth-through-eighth grade students were educated on the principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) that form the foundation of aviation.
“The interactive, hands-on activities provided a unique experience that made our students confident to think out of the box. Awesome two days for our students at Qatar Academy Al Khor”, said Ghada Bou Zein Eddine, Director of the academy.
The museum’s demonstrations included the Flying Gizmo Show which helps students discover the history and science of flight, and Robot Garage which introduces the basic engineering ideas behind robotics.
“The museum trained QAC students to engage visitors to Al Khor Fly-In event in scientific projects related to robots and basic application of laws of physics,” said Ali Al Malki, Director- General, QAC. Boeing and QAC have a longstanding partnership to inspire Qatari youth and help them pursue careers in the sciences or aerospace.
“Boeing is committed to inspiring and educating young minds through community engagements and events such as this road show. We hope the event will further help shape future leaders in the aviation industry. We look forward to continued collaborations with QAC and Qatari youth to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Jeffery Johnson, President, Boeing Middle East. The Peninsula
