Non-residential lease deals to be extended

Doha: The Cabinet yesterday approved a proposal of the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning for extending lease contracts for non-residential purposes for one year as of February 15, 2015.
The provisions of legal extension excludes the administrative headquarters of commercial companies and legal people engaged in private trade, the offices of lawyers, accountants, engineers, veterinarians, clinics and the offices of agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery experts.
The weekly session, chaired by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Emiri Diwan, also endorsed its draft decision amending regulations of some administrative units of Qatar Tourism Authority, and a draft decision of the Minister of Economy and Commerce on creating sections in the administrative units and setting their terms of reference.
The meeting approved accession to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization annexed to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The Cabinet approved a draft agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income between Qatar and Japan, and the attached protocol and a draft air services agreement between Qatar and Latvia.
The session took decisions after reviewing a letter by the Minister of Justice on a proposal to amend Article 182 of the Penal Code promulgated by Law No. (11) for 2004; a memorandum of the Minister of Finance on the results of 11th conference of the federation of tax authorities in Islamic States in Tunisia last month; and a letter of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on the outcome of the 18th meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information Technology in Cairo last December.
