RAWALPINDI: A spokesman for the Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) was shot dead Sunday morning by unknown attackers in Rawalpindi, hours after a senior ASWJ leader was attacked in Karachi.
The ASWJ confirmed the death of the Rawalpindi spokesperson Mazhar Siddiqui.
Siddiqui was traveling in a car near Rawalpindi's Pirodhai Mor area when gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on his vehicle, said the ASWJ.
Siddiqui succumbed to his wounds while another person was severely injured in the gun attack.
The attack comes hours after ASWJ leader Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui’s car was attacked by unidentified assailants in Karachi Saturday night.
ASWJ spokesperson Umer Mauviya said Aurangzeb escaped unhurt from the attack but three of his guards were injured in the firing incident. Farooqui, however, denied that any of his guards were injured.
