Doha: As part of its efforts to open new markets for Qatari companies, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) supported eight Qatari firms in the food production industry to take part in Gulfood 2015.
The region’s premier food and hospitality exhibition is an initiative of QDB’s export arm, Tasdeer.
The firms praised the bank for support at this flagship event, which gave them the opportunity to meet key companies in the food sector to increase exports regionally and globally. The event was held at Dubai World Trade Centre from February 8 to 12.
From organic vegetables to dates, frozen meat and olive oil, the firms showcased best-in-class Qatari products.
The companies were Qatar Food Factories, Qatar Tunisian Food Company, National food company (Doha Dates, Dandy Company Ltd, National food company (ZAD Holding), Qatar Flour Mills, Agrico Organic Farms and Colosseum Gelato.
Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, CEO, QDB, said: “QDB is a supporter of Qatari exporters who want to reach new global markets. We regularly support national firms at premier trade events in strategic markets. This is our third consecutive year at Gulfood, following the success of last year’s participation, which resulted in about QR10m in orders booked and we are confident this year’s edition will lead to new business for Qatari exporters.
“QDB, through Tasdeer, remains committed to expanding Qatar’s private sector and supporting the companies driving that growth. Today, we join our clients on their journey towards success through international events, exhibitions, strategic market research and promotion for Qatari exporters,” he added.

The Qatari pavilion was marked by its design, modern interior, large area and strategic location. It was packed with visitors eager to learn more about the Qatari food sector.
