HMC marks World Kidney Day at Katara

DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation yesterday held activities at Katara to commemorate World Kidney Day which falls on the second Thursday of March.
A walkathon, free blood sugar and blood pressure check-ups and family activities were among the programmes to raise awareness about the risk factors of chronic kidney disease.
It is estimated that one in 10 people around the world has some form of kidney disease.
With the 2014 theme ‘Chronic Kidney Disease and Ageing’,  HMC has partnered with Ooredoo for activities at schools, healthcare facilities and other locations across the country such as Souq Waqif, City Center mall, Aspire Zone and Hamad General Hospital.
A scientific symposium will be held today where HMC experts will speak on latest research in the field.
