Geneva: Qatar has stressed that the fight against terrorism is a real challenge to the international community and needs coordination and constructive cooperation of all parties to eliminate terrorism in all its forms in line with international standards and human rights.
Qatar also stressed that terrorism in all its forms and its perpetrators are a threat to international peace and security, the lives of innocent civilians, security of countries and economic and social progress.
This came in a speech delivered by Jassim Al Mouawda, Third Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations Office at the 25th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
He said terrorism has no religion, no homeland and contravenes all religious teachings which reject fanaticism and extremism and call for tolerance, non-violence and moderation.
He said Qatar condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations whatever its causes, justifications and source and from any party.
He said Doha will host the third United Nations Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in 2015.
Qatar, he said, has repeatedly stressed at international forums the need for reaching a comprehensive treaty that contains a specific definition of terrorism, as loose definitions could lead to misuse of the term and exploitation leading to violations of international law and international humanitarian law, the right of peoples to struggle against occupation and the right to self-determination.
