NEW YORK: A New York grand jury yesterday re-indicted an Indian diplomat accused of mistreating her housekeeper on two counts of visa fraud and making false statements.
The announcement from the Manhattan federal prosecutor came two days after a US judge threw out a previous case on the grounds that the former consular official was granted full diplomatic immunity after her arrest. The new indictment paints a devastating picture of the lengths to which Devyani Khobragade allegedly went to infringe US laws in hiring a nanny-cum-housekeeper in 2012.
