Doha: The Speaker of the Advisory Council H E Mohammad bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi met yesterday Mauritanian Ambassador to Qatar Sheikh Sayed Ahmed Bakay Ould Hamadi.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the parliamentary relations between the two countries and ways of developing them.

Doha: The Advisory Council held yesterday its weekly meeting of its 42nd regular session under the chairmanship of H E Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi.
The Advisory Council Secretary-General H E Fahd bin Mubarak Al Khayareen read the agenda, which was then agreed upon. The Council endorsed the minutes of its previous session.
The Council reviewed a draft law on passing a litigation act for family matters and decided to refer it to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee to study it and submit report thereon to the council
The Council also reviewed the following draft laws: A draft law on exempting the share of the non-Qatari investors in the profits of some companies and investment funds from income tax.
A draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 25 for the year 2005 concerning commercial registration. The Council then decided to refer them to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee to study them and submit report thereon to the Council.
Doha: The Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy and Trade announced yesterday the seizure of counterfeit cosmetics to a global brand during an inspection tour of one of the shops in the country. The examination of samples of the seized cosmetics proved that all those samples are counterfeit, and thus the department seized all the quantities until the completion of procedures for the violation and the destruction of the seized goods pursuant to Article No. 7 of Law No. 8 of 2008, which criminalise the sale and promotion of counterfeit materials.
The department frequently organises training workshops for the inspectors in cooperation with brand owners on how to distinguish between original and counterfeit goods in an effort to curb the spread of counterfeit goods.
The inspection campaigns come as part of the Department’s efforts to protect the rights of consumers, and the Ministry’s continuous monitoring of the markets and the economic activity.
