Albay Governor Joey Salceda is facing charges of malversation before the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) in connection with the alleged misuse of Malampaya funds intended for the victims of Mayon Volcano eruption in 2009.
The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) filed the complaint in behalf of the residents of Legazpi City who complained of not receiving provincial assistance after the eruption.
Also included in the criminal complaint is Albay Social Welfare and Development chief Yolanda Guanzon.
The complainants asked the OMB to place the respondents under preventive suspension to prevent them from influencing the outcome of the probe.
