DOHA: Doha Youth Forum Art Contest jury selected 26 winners from paintings presented by Qatar schools pupils, organisers said Wednesday.
The jury selected ten winners and three Arab Special Prize awards from Grades 4 to 7 and 13 from Grades 8 to 12.
Organisers held the art contest ahead of the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
Social media likes and comments from public accounted for 25% of the total score.
Event organizers will soon announce final rankings of the art contest on crimes against women and children.
Apart from violence against women and children, contest organisers asked Grade 4 to 7 students to visualise cybercrime, corruption, and organised crime.
Grades 8 to 12 students worked on themes like how the community can work with the authorities against crime, including corruption and bribery.
Doha Youth Forum on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and the UN Crime Congress debated these themes last week.
Speaking on the quality of creativity, UN Crime Congress Media Committee Head Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, who organised the art contest said, "The images were intense.
"Coming from young students, they were honest expressions of what our children feel about mature subjects and should be of concern to us adults."
To engage the public in selecting winners,
Facebook users praised the layouts. Some said, "They represent what our future holds if our youth unite to fight crime in any form. Youth is our future."
Organisers have put the paintings on display at the Qatar National Convention Center up to April 19.
