Local volleyball giants Al Arabi and Al Rayyan began their Emir Cup best-of-three semi-finals campaign on a winning note at Qatar Women’s Sports Committee Hall on Saturday evening.
Al Arabi, who are aiming for their fourth title of the season, won the five-set thriller against Police three sets to two.
Al Arabi, which last week won the Qatar Cup defeating Al Rayyan, won the marathon tussle for supremacy against Police 23-25, 25-22, 25-27, 25-23, 15-5 to take an upper hand in the series.
Besides the Qatar Cup, Al Arabi have won two more titles – the Federation Cup and Super Cup, in the season so far.
In the other semi-finals at the same venue, Al Rayyan eased to a 3-0 win over El Jaish
The Qatar Cup runners-up winning 25-18, 25-20 and 25-23.
