Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani issued an instrument of ratification approving a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore in the field of information technology and communications. The MoU was signed in Doha in March. The Emir also issued an instrument of ratification approving a MoU signed with Bulgaria in May in the field of agriculture, livestock and fishery. The Emir issued another instrument of ratification approving a draft agreement with Malta, signed in Valetta in April, in the field of combatting drugs, psychotropic substances and organised crime.
An agreement between Qatar and the Government of Jersey, signed in March in Doha on avoidance of dual taxation on fiscal evasion with respect to tax on income and its Protocol was also ratified by the Emir. The Emir also issued and instrument of Ratification approving an agreement between the governments of the State Qatar and the Isle of Man (self-governing British Crown Dependency) on avoidance of dual taxation and fiscal evasion with respect to income tax.
The Emir yesterday approved the Cabinet’s Decision No. (44) of 2012 on implementing the provisions of the Law No. (24) of 2002 on retirement and pensions for Qatari employees at the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development. The decision shall enter into force since the date of issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
The Emir issued decree No. 58 of 2012 endorsing the agreement on the avoidance of dual taxation and prevention of financial evasion with regard to income tax between Qatar and Albania, signed in Tirana in 2011. It shall have the power of law in accordance with to Article 68 of the Constitution. The Emir issued the Decree No. (59) of 2012, inviting the Advisory Council to convene its 41th ordinary session on Tuesday, 21th Dhul Hijjah 1433 Hijri, corresponding to 6th November 2012.
