Doha, Qatar: In its latest ranking, Great Place To Work has revealed its list of the 100 Best Workplaces for Women in the GCC, honouring organisations that champion equality, empowerment, and inclusivity.
The annual ranking acknowledged 25 large, 25 medium, and 50 small organisations that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to fostering work environments where women are valued, supported, and encouraged to excel. Qatar-based firms recognised in the regional list include McDonald’s by Al Mana Restaurants and Shift Group.
According to Jules Youssef, Managing Director for Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain at Great Place To Work Middle East, Qatar-domiciled entities are rapidly adopting global best practices to create more equitable work environments.
“Qatari organisations are increasingly aligning with global standards for Best Workplaces for Women by fostering inclusive environments where women are valued as full members, as reflected by the 96 percent of women feeling treated as full members regardless of their position,” Youssef told The Peninsula.
“Additionally, organisations are prioritising merit-based promotions, with 98 percent of women affirming that promotions go to those who best deserve them.”
Youssef noted that local initiatives such as recognition programmes, awards, and awareness campaigns are helping to highlight companies that prioritise gender equality.
He mentioned that these efforts are positioning Qatar as a progressive leader in workplace inclusivity and women’s empowerment.
Additionally, Qatar-based firms are making notable progress in fostering supportive environments for women, particularly within traditionally male-dominated industries. One of the most significant advancements has been the implementation of professional development programmes, with 85 percent of women reporting that they have access to training and resources designed to help them grow and advance their careers.
Companies are also ensuring that women have the necessary tools and resources to succeed, with 90 percent of women saying they are provided with adequate equipment to perform their roles effectively. Workplace safety remains a top priority, with 94 percent of women affirming that they feel physically safe at work, an indicator of organisations’ proactive efforts to create secure and inclusive environments.
“These initiatives reflect a proactive approach to addressing the unique challenges women face in the workplace,” Youssef explained. “By prioritising professional development, resource allocation, and safety, Qatari companies are setting a benchmark for environments where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to their industries.”
The survey also revealed that 92 percent of employees believe they would receive a fair review if they experienced unfair treatment, while 100 percent of employees affirmed that people are treated fairly regardless of gender.
“These metrics highlight a work environment rooted in fairness, transparency, and equity, which are essential for empowering women to pursue leadership opportunities and remain engaged in their careers,” Youssef said.
