DOHA: Al Meera Consumer Goods Company will soon open its branch at the Barwa’s housing complex in Mesaimeer, sources at Barwa said yesterday.
ABC Mart, the existing supermarket at the complex will down its shutters, likely next month, to give way to the new shopping facility. Most of the other shops providing various services at the sprawling housing complex have also been closed.
A Barwa official said yesterday that the supermarket has been closed following repeated complaints from tenants about the services. Al Meera is expected to open its store in the first quarter of next year, he added.
It is however not clear why the other shops at the complex have also been closed. A laundry and juice stall continue to function, while most other facilities including a barber shop and pharmacy have already downed their shutters, a tenant said yesterday.
The residential complex offering affordable houses has nearly 1,000 apartments, rented out to families from different nationalities.
