Raigad, Maharashtra: The bodies of four brutally murdered men were discovered in a farmhouse in Maharashtra’s Raigad district yesterday afternoon, police said. At least one of the victims was shot with a revolver recovered from the scene of the crime in Shiravali village, while the heads of three others were smashed with a stone that was also found there. The victims have been identified as Nitin Joshi, Balram Chaupanne, Pritam Gharat and Ramdas Patil, all hailing from Panvel, police said. The farmhouse was owned by Datta Patil, a local agriculture group activist, whose nephew - Ramdas Patil - was among those the four killed, police said.
Police kill five Maoist rebels in Orissa
Bhubaneshwar: Indian security forces have killed at least five Maoist rebels in a remote jungle in the troubled eastern state of Orissa, a police officer said yesterday. Two policemen also suffered injuries in the firefight in Bhaliapada, a dense forest area about 230km south of the state capital Bhubaneswar. “The operation began on Tuesday night.
