DOHA: Public voting for the second Qatar Choice Awards will start on Sunday, say organisers of the annual awards that recognise the best in entertainment and hospitality industries in Qatar.
Twenty-six awards are up for grabs this year, ranging from favourite DJ to favourite event of 2013. The voting system is completely dependent on the public, making the award ceremony truly unique, showing which Qatar’s leading establishments are.
The awards, which started last year, generated over 12,000 votes with 26 categories to vote for. Some of the awardees were Katara as “Favourite hosted event space”, W Hotel & Residence as “Favourite Hotel”, Al Mourjan restaurant located on the Corniche as “Favourite view” and Renaissance Doha City Centre the “Favourite New Hotel”.
“The huge success of the event took us all by surprise, therefore this year we want to bring that ‘WoW’ factor and produce the most prominent and the best awards ceremony Qatar has ever seen. We have many surprises in store. I truly believe the voting platform is a great public mechanism to bring everyone together as a community and thank those who work so hard to bring us entertainment, good food and great service,” said Moona Masri-Whitice, Executive Editorial Director of QH magazine
“Our goal has always been to give the public a platform to voice their opinion and vote for favourite spots in Doha, ultimately the decision is theirs not ours. We are really grateful to be partners with both Qatar Happening and IFP Qatar to make this annual event and voting platform possible,” said Khalifa Al Haroon, iloveqatar.net founder.
This year IFP has delegated the responsibility to produce the Qatar Choice Awards to Naycom, IFP’s marketing arm. George Ayache, General Manager of IFP and Naycom Qatar says, “Prepare to be dazzled for another beautiful edition. Naycom, our new division for marketing and events, will take this gala to another level.” By visiting www.qatarchoiceawards.com people are able to register their emails and begin voting for people and places they consider their favourite. The Peninsula
