DOHA: The weeklong World Social Security Forum, the largest gathering of International Social Security Association (ISSA), concluded at Doha Sheraton Hotel yesterday with renewed confidence in social security and its capacity to develop and respond to challenges, with hope in a future where social security can be accessible to all people in all places.

The forum, which attracted more than 1000 delegates including ministers, CEOs, senior officials and decision-makers from more than 127 countries hopes to make positive changes in the social security systems all over the world.

Over the week, the forum has heard that social security is an essential investment in people, families, national production, domestic demand and economic growth. The powerful message will now be taken round the world by the forum’s delegates returning home, hoped ISSA officials.

ISSA’s strategic commitment to excellence in social security administration means that the ISSA has changed. This change will be forever associated with the Doha Forum, said President Errol Frank Stoove.

The Forum reaffirmed that social security is above all about people and wellbeing. It demonstrated how social security is an essential investment and not a cost. Currently social security is experiencing a paradigm shift and as part of this it has gained impressive political support worldwide.
