DOHA: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will execute infrastructure projects involving over QR24.3bn over the next three months, according to the Annual State Achievement report.
Road projects at a cost of over QR12.4bn, sewage projects at more than QR9.89bn and building projects at a cost of about QR2bn will be implemented, Al Raya reports. The total cost of projects awarded during 2013-14 crossed QR38bn, including road projects worth over QR33bn, sewage projects (QR276.5m) and building projects (QR4.2bn).
Ashghal has initiated the second phase of a sewage plan in Al Khor and operated and conducted maintenance on 25 new pumping stations. It has also completed sewage networks in Al Wakra and other areas, including Doha, Salwa Road and Al Shamal Road.
It has finished work on intersections and roundabouts in Doha and developed roads in Al Thumama and Bin Hajir. Ashghal has also completed improvement work on roads linking Doha and Umm Sayed and Al Shamal and Doha.
Among the building projects, Ashghal has completed and handed over 10 kindergartens, two schools in Al Shahaniya and Al Shamal and four in Group-Three category in Fereej Kuleb and Waidi Al Banat. It also developed play areas in 20 schools.
Among the projects in various phases of development, the sewage network in Ain Khaled has been completed 86 percent, rehabilitation of the sixth stage of pumping stations 81 percent and the sewage project for the fish market in Abu Hamour 41 percent. Ashghal is working on a water treatment plant in north of Doha and has completed 87 percent of it while expansion of the second phase of a sewage treatment plant has been completed 84 percent.
