Vietnam's PM wins approval in parliamentary confidence vote

HANOI: Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung survived a confidence vote in parliament on Saturday, with 64 percent of the delegates giving a vote of 'high confidence' in his leadership and 14 percent showing'low confidence'.

Since last year the National Assembly has begun voting annually to pass judgement on key officials' performance. As many as 485 delegates were present at the confidence vote, running the rule over 50 government officials

State Bank of Vietnam Governor Nguyen Van Binh obtained a 'high confidence' vote of 64.9 percent, while State President Truong Tan Sang scored 76 percent, according to a National Assembly statement delivered to a plenary session. (Reuters)
