ISLAMABAD: Digitalisation and satellite imaging of Islamabad will help remove encroachments from the city and also facilitate future planning by using the latest technology and techniques while also minimising human involvement especially during the award of new residential and commercial sectors.
This was stated here over the weekend by Capital Development Authority (CDA) Member Administration Amer Ali. He said the authority was getting ready to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) tomorrow on satellite imaging to root out encroachments from the Pakistani federal capital city by using the overlay imaging technique. The satellite imaging will be conducted in four different phases. As a first step, Suparco will provide data from satellite images of the last five years, and CDA will be able to identify illegal encroachments that have occurred during this period.
In the second phase, it will check ongoing encroachments.
Thirdly, Suparco will take satellite images of every newly acquired area of Islamabad at the time of award, showing all the built up property indicating the number of houses in the area.
As the fourth measure, the whole map of Islamabad will be digitalised and there will be a digital map of Islamabad including the rural areas indicating each and every place.                                  INTERNEWS
