DOHA: Dr Kim Critchley (pictured) has been named Dean and Chief Executive Officer of University of Calgary –Qatar (UCQ).
“Dr Critchley is no stranger to her new role after serving as Acting and Interim Dean and CEO of UCQ since September 1. She has a long and distinguished career in nursing in post-secondary education in Canada,” said Dr Dru Marshall, Provost and Vice-President (Academic).
Dr Critchley replaces Dr Carolyn Byrne, who served UCQ for the past three years.
“I am very pleased to accept the position. I want to personally thank the members of the selection committee for providing me with this opportunity. UCQ is a reputable institution that provides exciting opportunities in the areas of education and research. I am eager to make a positive contribution to the university and to work with everyone on the very talented UCQ team. I would also like to thank Qatar for supporting our nursing programme and its overall vision and planning for the future of healthcare advancement,” said Dr Critchley.
Dr Critchley came to UCQ from the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) School of Nursing, where she served as dean between 2005 and 2012, and as full professor between 2008 and 2012.
