Tornado Tower has inaugurated its long awaited restaurant. Located on the 28th floor, La Varenne, features cuisine served to diners as in a traditional Parisian brasserie.
The menu consists of French dishes such as chicken liver and foie gras parfait, bouillabaisse, French onion soup, duck a l’orange, and other delicacies.
The breakfast menu offers healthy, baked and hot options that go from fresh crepes, French toast or cheese soufflé, to different omelettes or an Arabic breakfast, with grilled aubergine, accompanied with ricotta and zatar, tomato and cucumber or feta cheese.
La Varenne will initially be open only for breakfast and lunch. The brasserie offers special two- and three-course business lunch menus for QR85 and QR95 from Sunday through Thursday. Opening hours from Sunday to Thursday are 7am to 10.30am and 12pm to 3.30pm.
Heading up the kitchen is Executive Chef Stuart Collins, who trained under Gordon Ramsay and Michael Caines, and has worked in a number of Michelin-starred restaurants in both Britain and the United States. The rest of the kitchen team consists of 39 people, including talented chefs from France and other countries. Commenting on the launch, Collins said: “We have been working on this project for a couple of years now and it is so exciting to see it come to fruition. We want our guests to experience a real taste of France in a contemporary and stylish setting.”
“Our dishes have been created to reflect what you would find on the menu in a typical brasserie, although we have also included a number of more locally influenced options such as the Arabic lentil soup and the sticky date pudding,” added Collins.
“There are so many offices in West Bay but there is relatively little choice of restaurants. With the launch of La Varenne, which will eventually offer delicious French meals throughout the day from breakfast to dinner, we are providing Qatar with a quality dining option,” stated the chef.
