Grand Hyatt Doha organised an event to bid farewell to Garry Friend and welcome Christoph K Franzen, who took over as general manager of the hotel.
Friend is moving to Oman for a fresh challenge as the general manager of Grand Hyatt Muscat.
Hyatt International Corporation had announced the appointment of Franzen as the new General Manager of Grand Hyatt Doha with effect from Sunday.
Franzen transfers from Grand Hyatt Muscat, where he was the general manager since January 2009.
At an event at Rocca, Grand Hyatt Doha, clients attended the reception where they won prizes from Grand Hyatt Dubai, Grand Regency Dubai, Park Hyatt Dubai and Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi. Emirates airlines also presented tickets to two lucky winners.
During the event, Friend said, “I have immensely enjoyed my time in Qatar and it has been a great privilege to see the country blossom as it has over the last five years.
“I am particularly proud of the growth of the hospitality industry in the country, which sees new entrants in this dynamic and changing market every year.”
Commenting on his appointment, Franzen said: “This is an incredible opportunity which I am thrilled to have, after working within Hyatt Corporation for more than 13 years, I am looking forward to this new and exciting challenge to work across Qatar as general manager of Grand Hyatt Doha. Qatar is a thriving and rapidly evolving market and I am confident that the team and I can continue to deliver incredible results.”
