Sarajevo: The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs H E Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari yesterday inaugurated the renovated building of Sarajevo’s historic library that was destroyed during the Bosnian war.
The 7,000sqm site dates back to 1537 and its revival, which was carried out over 10 years, followed a generous gesture by the Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The opening was attended by Bosnia’s presidential council member Baqer Ezzat Begovic, Grand Mufti Husein Kavazovic, the Qatari Ambassador Rashed bin Mubarak Al Kuwari, senior officials and religious, scientific and political dignitaries.
Speaking during the event, the minister highlighted Qatar’s keenness under the leadership of the Emir H H Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to qualify Muslims to contribute to the advancement of Islamic civilisation and the progress of human society.
