Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah and members of the Executive Office of International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the sidelines of the opening of the 24th IHF Men’s Handball World Championship — Qatar 2015 at Lusail Multipurpose Hall last evening. Talks dealt with topics of mutual interest.
Sheikha Al Mayassa at fair
Doha: H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, Qatar Museums (QM), yesterday visited the 25th Doha International Book Fair at Qatar National Convention Centre. She toured the QM pavilion which features publications and visited government pavilions and those of Arab and foreign publishers where she was briefed on the latest publications. She was accompanied by Vice-Chairman, Board of Trustees, QM, Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Thani. The fair runs until January 17.

Doha: Prince Frederik Andre Henrik Christian, Crown Prince of Denmark, yesterday arrived to attend the opening of the 24th IHF Men’s Handball World Championship.
Qatar 2014: SCH takes measures
Doha: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has reinforced preventive measures during 24th IHF Men’s Handball World Championship which began yesterday.
In a statement, the SCH said its health preparedness plan includes stricter control on communicable diseases during the tournament.
Epidemiological investigation teams and food safety inspectors have been deployed in stadiums and halls that will host competitions and hotels allocated for delegations and guests to monitor the health status and disease susceptibility to outbreaks at the national or global level through global network of outbreak of World Health Organisation, it said. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, Director, Public Health Department, was briefed on preparations when he chaired a meeting with officials from the Department of Health Protection and Disease Control and emergency preparedness management.

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry met Qatari Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Saqr bin Mubarak Al Mansouri who presented a copy of his credentials.
