DOHA: Authorities have intensified monitoring of overloaded passenger vehicles crossing the Abu Samra border post in a bid to reduce accidents.
The Ministry of Interior warned on its Twitter account yesterday that it will stop all cars carrying passengers above the legally permitted capacity from exiting or entering the border post.
“For a safe travel via Abu Samra border, don’t overload vehicle with more passengers than specified in the vehicle permit,” said the ministry. For instance, a five-seat saloon car is permitted to carry five passengers, as mentioned in the vehicle permit.
The Ministry said that overloading vehicles will affect their condition and durability and could lead to accidents, by the driver losing control.
