DOHA: The newly-built marriage complex at Al Rifa Street has evoked tremendous interest among citizens getting married.
At least 100 bookings have already been made for the next one-and-a-half months for the five marriage halls at the complex, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday. The halls are available for citizens at nominal charges. The first Qatari marriage at the facility is scheduled for today.
The complex was built by the government in view of the high rents of marriage halls in the country to help aspiring couples address the huge cost of marriage. The facility is located at the beginning of of Rifa street on the Doha-Al Shahanyiah road. Since the booking started mid January, 39 bookings were made for the same month and the remaining 61 for February, said the daily.  The halls are fully booked throughout the coming week, it added.
There is more demand for the halls during week-ends starting from Wednesday to Friday. All five halls are mostly fully booked during these days. There is less rush on Saturday, apparently because the working days start on Sunday and other days of the week. The halls are available for marriages on six days in a week, with one-day break for cleaning and maintenance.
The operating company Al Rayyan has posted booking details on its website http://www.alrayyanevents.qa/. Citizens can also can get details about bookings over telephone 33802042 or email info@alrayanevents.qa.
Booking should be made in the name of the bride or bridegroom. If the halls were booked in others’ names the booking will be cancelled as soon the irregularity is found out, said the daily quoting the operator. Two similar marriage complexes will be built soon in Al Wakra and Al Daaen to serve the citizens in those municipalities, added the daily.
