DOHA: The Young Falconer event for participants in the 6-10 age group begins today at the Qatar Falcons and Hunting Festival in Sabkat Marmi in Mesaieed.
The event’s organising committee has advised parents of participating falconers to be present for the start of the competition at 11am.
Registration is open until the competition begins, the panel said.
Meanwhile, the Tala’a event’s third round will be early this morning while the Hudud Al Tahaddi Challenge continues in the afternoon.
Faisal Mohammed Rashed Al Ma’adhid qualified in the second round of Tala’a yesterday and Sheikh Khalifa bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Thani and Mohammed Salah Al Nabet won in the Hudud Al Tahaddi to qualify for the final round.
Al Ma’adhid said his falcon’s winning performance was a result of a strict training schedule prior to the event. He said Tala’a differs from other events of the festival in that the falconer does not interact with his falcon during the competition as such and hopes that his training of the bird is sufficient to pull it through the competition. The festival, organised by Gannas Society under the patronage of H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, runs until January 31.
