Doha: Al Rayan Municipality with the participation of Al Zahra Kindergarten organised ‘Little Farmer’ event at the Awarness Centre in Al Luqta Park.
The event, which was attended by 130 students, aimed at education children about the importance of agriculture and greeneries, said the Ministry of Municipality in a statement.
The students were taught how to plant flowers and to take care of them. Seedlings of flower plants were distributed to the students to get practical lessons by planting them at their homes’ backyard.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Municipality, represented by Public Parks Department, has launched the 7th ‘Farm Your Country’ programme 2022-23, in partnership with the Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation.
The initiative aims at raising awareness on importance of agriculture among students since childhood.
The Public Parks Department has completed its preparations for the start of Farm Your Country programme by providing all materials and requirements for agriculture and production, and coordinating with schools to start planting operations.
The engineers and experts from Public Parks Department started plantation in 36 schools participating in the season including eight international and 28 government schools. The initiative aims to influence the behaviour of students so they take the issues of farming and agriculture seriously.
