New Delhi: Former air hostess Geetika Sharma’s mother committed suicide by hanging herself in her house here last evening, and blamed the same people as her daughter for forcing her to take the extreme step, said police.
Anuradha Sharma, in her 50s, was found hanging in her bedroom at her Ashok Vihar residence around 5.50pm, leaving a suicide note blaming former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda and his employee Aruna Chaddha — the persons mentioned by Geetika as responsible for her suicide — for her step.
A senior officer said the police was likely to register a new case of abetment to suicide against Kanda and Chaddha.
“A family member spotted Anuradha’s body hanging from the ceiling fan. He informed police and victim’s son Ankit Sharma,” said the officer.
Geetika, 23, an air hostess in the now defunct MDLR airlines belonging to Kanda, committed suicide on the night of August 4, 2012 by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her house.
She had left two suicide notes naming Kanda and Chaddha for harassing her and driving her to suicide.
Both Kanda, who is the prime accused in the case for abetting the suicide of Geetika, and Chaddha are now in judicial custody and have denied the allegations.
Charges of criminal intimidation and abetment to suicide were slapped on Kanda and Chaddha after Geetika’s suicide.
