DOHA: The Qatar University (QU) recruited 687 teachers including 169 citizens and 518 expatriates last year, said a report issued by the Secretariat General of the State Cabinet.
The recruitment soared seven percent last year compared to previous year. The university selected 70 Qatari students for higher studies in universities based in US, UK, Canada and Malaysia. It granted 585 scholarships to the students last year, 30.8 percent more than the previous year, Al Sharq reported.
The total number of the students registered at the university increased 30 percent while there was 115 percent rise in the number of Qatari students last year compared to previous year. During last five year, 485 students and 240 teachers benefited from the scholarships granted by the university.
