QAF set to host special 100m dash for Asians

Doha: Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF) will host a  special 100m race for Asian competitors along with the 2015 IAAF Diamond League on May 15 at Qatar Sports Club Stadium, it was announced here yesterday.
“A special 100m race for Asians will be held along with  2015 IAAF Diamond League track and field evnets,” said Dahlan Al Hamad, President of the Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF), who is also the President of Asian Athletics Federation.
“Qatar Athletics is investing in the young generation. Involving schools is a top priority for the Qatar Athletics Federation and the Asian Athletics Federation as well, two important athletics’ governing bodies I have the honour and responsibility to lead,” he added.
The IAAF Diamond League which is annually held in Doha motivates news talent Dhalan said.
“By bringing to Doha elite athletes, we raise the awareness for our sport and we continuously engage, inspire and motivate a growing number of young athletes.”
“Although the Doha 2015 meeting is always held at the beginning of the outdoor season, a fact that could have normally impeded us from having with us top stars, we will bring on – as we always do - a large number of Olympic and World Championships medallists.
The Peninsula
