Lebanese Minister: AgriteQ 2023 shows Qatar’s advance in food security

Doha: Minister of Agriculture of Lebanon H E Abbas Al Haj Hassan said that 10th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) 2023 has proved once again that the country is fully capable to make real difference in many sectors like agriculture, industrial, trade and international relations.

Speaking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of AgriteQ 2023 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) yesterday, the Minister said “I believe the exhibition is organised within the vision and strategy of ensuring food security in Arab countries and the world which attached great importance nowadays.” 

Minister of Agriculture of Lebanon noted that he met a number of Qatari officials during his visit to Qatar. “During meeting with Qatari officials, I realised how much they are keen to enhance bilateral relations with neighbouring countries to ensure food security in Qatar,” said Hassan.

He said that Lebanon is enjoying strong relations with all countries of Arab World especially GCC countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Speaking about the participations from Lebanon in AgriteQ 2023, the Minister said: “There are 14 participants in this edition of the exhibition. We are looking for more active participations in the International Horticultural Exhibition (Expo 2023 Doha).”

He said that Expo 2023 Doha, which will begin in October, will be an excellent event like FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

To a question about the pacts between Qatar and Lebanon, the Minister said: “There are agreements between the two countries which are trying to activate to keep pace with the fast development of agricultural sector. We are looking for trade partners in this region especially in Doha and Beirut in public and private sectors for joint ventures.”

He thanked Qatar for opening its market for Lebanese products. “We are committed to supply quality products safely to Qatar and other part of the world,” said Minister of Agriculture of Lebanon.
