LAHORE: Pakistan’s law-enforcement agencies and secret services have secretly reported to the higher authorities that there is strong likelihood of terrorists launching attacks against about 40 election candidates in different parts of the country.
Reliable sources revealed that although the caretaker regimes in the centre and provinces are claiming that they are fully prepared to fight against any eventuality and that they are doing their best to create an atmosphere of complete peace and security during the forthcoming general elections. Inadequacy still exists in the overall security system as admitted privately by the people at the helm of security and administrative affairs. It was learnt from reliable sources having connections in the security set-up that the entire system of policing and surveillance has been put on red alert in the light of warnings and forewarnings received from various agencies and recce orgs.
According to these recce orgs, the militants are preparing to translate their anti-democratic and anti-constitutional venom into reality and take the general elections as the ripest opportunity for fulfilling and reaffirming their democracy-destroying agenda. Internews
