Works started late last year and included a third east-bound carriageway from Salwa Road to the interchange, making the road three lanes instead of two. An additional lane was also added to ease traffic from east of Salwa Road to towards D-Rind Road (Khalifa Al Attiyah Interchange).
More lanes were added to the south-bound road from Al Asiri Interchange to the ground level of D-Ring Road parallel to Al Asiri Tunnel, making the road three lanes instead of two. An additional carriageway was built to serve traffic to west from Al Asiri Interchange towards Salwa Road to Al Mana Petrol Station.
