DOHA: The country is expected to see unstable weather conditions over the next few days, with day temperatures soaring to 36 to 39 degrees Celsius and even more in some areas today and tomorrow.
The meteorology department said in a special bulletin yesterday that the conditions will result from an extension of Sudan Thermal low, which is basically a low pressure area.
However, from Saturday morning high pressure (known as Azores High) will extend to the Gulf from north-west Saudi Arabia associated with fresh to strong north-westerly winds with speeds of 33km to 55km an hour at times peaking at 65km an hour, leading to cooler weather.
This will lead to choppy seas with waves seven to 12 feet high. This will continue until Tuesday. The department said high winds will kick up dust and sand which will affect visibility.
Due to this, temperatures may decrease after Friday and may hover between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius (minimum) and 29 to 33 degrees Celsius (maximum).
Saudi Arabia’s official website for weather forecasting said a northern fresh wind from today will kick up dust and sand.
This will reduce visibility and decrease temperatures in some regions and wind speeds may peak to over 83km per hour.
