Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani with winners during the conclusion ceremony of 1st Ramadan Football Tournament organised by MoECC.
Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) yesterday concluded the first Ramadan football tournament, with two matches to determine the winner and runner-up, as well as the third and fourth place, at the Aspire Sports Complex.
The conclusion ceremony was attended by Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani, ministry officials, employees, and a number of fans.
The Public Relations and Communication Department team secured emerge champions after defeating the Finance Department team by four goals to two.
The Wild Protection Department team received third place after defeating the Chemical Protection Department team with two goals to one.
Minister honoured the Public Relations Department team, the Financial Affairs Department team and the Wildlife Management team. The Minister also honoured the best goalkeeper and the best player, and the referees.
Abdul Hadi Nasser Al Marri, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs, said that the tournament represents an opportunity for the participants from the Ministry to promote the values and culture of sports.
He noted that the championship also represents a social occasion that contributes to increasing the bonding and acquaintance between the Ministry’s employees, especially with the participation of the families and children of the employees of the Ministry.
Al Marri said that the tournament contributes to increasing the link between sport and environmental work, as sport is considered one of the results of preserving the environment.
Farhood Al Hajri, Director of the Public Relations Department, which supervised the organization of the tournament, expressed his happiness over the success of the first Ramadan tournament.
He noted that the championship added a wonderful atmosphere during the holy month, as it was marked by the extensive participation of the Ministry’s employees, whether in playing within their management teams, or participating with their families by watching and encouraging.
