Doha: The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) will hold a webinar tomorrow on building a central statistical data warehouse that contributes to accessing the economic, social and environmental data for all type users and categories. They include decision, policy and strategy makers, foremost of which is the Third National Development Strategy of Qatar.
The webinar will study the statistical and technical aspects of the data warehouse. It will also review international, regional and national experiences to build a modern data platform that keeps pace with the latest technologies, and to benefit from national experiences in many ministries, government agencies, private sector, universities and research centres. The webinar comes within the framework of the PSA’s efforts to upgrade the national statistical system, and aims to highlight its importance for all data users in the country.
It will also identify its added value in national development planning, tracking its course and achieving its goals, and the necessary national partnerships to build an integrated data warehouse characterised by flexibility, comprehensiveness and high quality of its data.
The objectives of the webinar also includes identifying statistical, technical and structural processes necessary to operate the central statistical data warehouse, and the role of partners in its building and sustenance, as well as benefiting from advanced experiences in data warehouse.
H E Dr. Saleh M Al Nabit, President of the PSA, stressed the need for ministries, government agencies, private sector and other groups to cooperate in building this work, by providing the PSA with the required data.
Moreover, he explained that the data is for the public good and for everyone to use, while maintaining the confidentiality of data related to individuals and institutions.
He disclosed that this activity is organised in cooperation with the Malaysian and Italian statistics authorities, Microsoft and several relevant ministries.
