Zurich: FIFA announced today the date for the playoff between Mexico's Club America and the American Los Angeles FC to determine which team will represent CONCACAF in the 2025 Club World Cup, which will be held from June 15 to July 14 in the United States.

FIFA set May 31 as the date for the match in a statement, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the appeal filed by Mexican club León against its exclusion from the tournament.

The winner of this match will face English club Chelsea in Atlanta, followed by Tunisian club Espérance de Tunis in Nashville, and Brazilian club Flamengo in Orlando.

Last March, FIFA disqualified Mexican club Leon for failing to meet the criteria for multiple club ownership set out in the tournament's regulations.

The Club World Cup features 32 teams divided into eight groups. Mexican club Leon was scheduled to face English club Chelsea in Group D, followed by Tunisian club Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Brazilian club Flamengo.
