Washington: The Vice- President of the United States Joe Biden has received a message from the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani pertaining to relations between the two countries and ways of developing them.
The Minister of State for Defence Affairs Major General H E Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah conveyed the message during a meeting with the US Vice-President.
They also discussed the fast-moving events in the region. The US Vice President expressed his thanks and gratitude for Qatar in supporting and enhancing the stability of the region.
The minister also met separately with a number of senior officials in the US administration and discussed with them bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them as well as the latest developments in the region.
During his meeting with US Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel, a number of agreements for the purchase of military aircrafts and Apache Patriot missiles were signed.
These agreements are the first phase of the deal which will be followed by several military agreements later.
