DOHA: A three-day seminar on ‘Financial literacy and addressing family issues for overseas Filipinos and their families’ opens today at the Philippine embassy.
It is organised by Pinoy Wise (Worldwide Initiative for Savings Investment and Entrepreneurship) Movement through the Philippine mission here.
Pinoy Wise is part of a reintegration programme of the Philippine government in which Overseas Filipino Workers are encouraged to invest back home.
The seminar will primarily cater to a core group who would serve as trainers for Filipino organisations and individuals on financial literacy and investment.
Main topics include ‘Saving for investment’, ‘Budgeting workshop’, ‘Borrowing and getting out of debt’, and ‘Addressing issues confronting families of overseas Filipino workers’.
Among key speakers are representatives of Pinoy Wise and Atikha Inc — a non-governmental organisation that provides economic and social services to overseas Filipinos and their families in the Philippines. Other trainers comprise representatives from Bank of the Philippine Islands, Landbank of the Philippines as well as from Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Social Security System.
