DOHA: Latest projects and technologies in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and road safety from around the region will be unveiled at the ITS and Road Safety Forum Qatar 2013 to from September 10 to 18 at St Regis Hotel.
The event is organised by the Public Works Authority, Ashghal, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior and the National Traffic Safety Committee and supported by The One Second national campaign.
This event comes at a time when Qatar is focused on implementing sophisticated Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) to provide a multi-mode, safe, efficient and sustainable transport network.
The conference will bring together over 200 international and local experts in ITS and road safety in the region. It offers the opportunity to discover best practice methods for effectively managing ITS and road safety projects, will hear case studies from regional experts on overcoming the challenges of integrating new systems with existing infrastructure and introduce cutting-edge advances in technology .
Over 20 companies including Shell, Maersk Oil, Algosystems, Traffic Tech, and AECOM will showcase their ITS and road safety solutions at the exhibition alongside the forum.
Brigadier Mohamad Al Malki, General Secretary of the National Committee for Traffic Safety, said, “We see this as an excellent opportunity to support the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in spreading awareness on road safety especially among our younger generation. Road safety is a major concern in our society as road traffic accidents claim many lives each year and cause severe physical disabilities to a large number of people, especially among the younger generation.
