Paraguay’s new President Horacio Cartes and his daughter Sofia Cartes greet the crowd while they are driven through the streets of Asuncion. Conservative businessman Cartes, 57, who was sworn in yesterday, pledged a “war on poverty” in a country where 39 percent of the seven million population are poor.
