Doha: The 76th Independence Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at DPS-Modern Indian School yesterday. The celebration was in line with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an initiative of the Government of India to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, its glorious history, culture and achievements.

The Chief Guest Shri Hassan Chougule, President DPS Modern Indian School unfurled the Indian tricolour in the presence of the august gathering and the entire DPS-MIS fraternity joined in the rendition of the National Anthem. Head Boy Junior school, Ethan Gonsalves and Head Girl Junior school, Ayesha Falak ­­­enlightened the gathering on the core values of Indian democracy and encouraged everyone to take an active role in nation-building.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Shri Hassan Chougule extended the Independence Day greetings to the great guild, highlighted the sanctity of the day and  acknowledged the support of the government of Qatar for the Indian community and institutions.

Principal, Asna Nafees addressed the gathering appealing to their nationalistic spirit and  appreciated the  indomitable spirit of  India against odds of life, its policy of inclusion and tolerance. She also stated that during the difficult phase of humanity, DPS Modern School remained undeterred, adapted the change with a positive outlook and continued delivering quality education.
