Warsaw: The Polish authorities announced that they had received more than 5,500,000 refugees from Ukraine since the start of the Russian military operation.

Polish media reported on Tuesday, quoting a statement issued by the Polish Border Guard Agency, that it had received 5,542,000 refugees from Ukraine, due to the military situation in the country since Feb. 24.

It indicated that it had received 21,800 refugees on Monday, compared to about 24,300 the day before.

Last March, Poland passed a law that provides a wide-ranging support package for Ukrainian refugees fleeing their country, including access to accommodation, education, healthcare and social services.
