Doha: The Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has launched ‘Crescent Ladies’ forum to bring together Qatari women to promote volunteerism, mobilise resources to encourage women to donate for projects and shed light on its achievements and activities.
The project also seeks to highlight the role of Qatari women in charitable activities for women so that Qatari charity women’s movement would become organised.
A QRC statement said the forum comprising qualified Qatari women, is one of the social development projects to promote the QRC message, projects and activities including health awareness, training of community members in first aid and developing volunteerism in philanthropic and other humanitarian activities.
QRC Secretary-General Saleh Ali Al Muhannadi highlighted the role of women in developing society and training youngsters in good deeds and in charitable and humanitarian work.
He said studies showed that more than 60 percent donations are given by women.
