DOHA: The Supreme Education Council (SEC) will enrol 200 Qatari graduates of senior secondary schools in a special education programme to qualify them as Independent schoolteachers.
The programme that will award a bachelor’s degree to students has been launched in collaboration with the Qatar University (QU).
The students, mostly girls, will be trained to teach in primary and secondary schools, the SEC said yesterday.
Some 150 girls will study the course for teaching in primary schools and another 30, including boys, will be trained to teach in secondary schools. Another 10 will pursue higher studies and six students will study advanced diploma.
Once they complete their courses, they will join Independent schools.
Besides school graduates, students of the Education College of the Qatar University will also be enrolled in the programme.
The SEC has announced a grant of QR7,000 per month to students enrolled in the four-year programme.
The graduates of the programme will be recruited directly as teachers in Independent schools with attractive pay package as per the human resources law of SEC, said an SEC statement.
The programme (bachelor in education of primary school) is only for girls and includes Arabic, Islamic studies, sociology, English, science and maths.
The programme (bachelor in education of secondary school) is for girls and boys who will study Islamic studies, sociology, Arabic, English, maths, chemistry, physics and biology.
