Geneva: Qatar has underscored the significant role that can be played by women in the promotion and protection of human rights at the national and international levels.
It also stressed its commitment to enhancing the role and position of Qatari women in all fields, with effective participation at the international level through its candidacy for membership of a number of international forums, including the United Nations for the promotion and protection of human rights.
This came in a speech by Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, which was delivered during a session of annual debate about “integrating the human rights of women throughout the United Nations system” within the 27th session of the Human Rights Council being held between 8 to 26 September, 2014 .
