BAGHDAD: Iraq's core inflation in September increased to 5.2 percent year-on-year from 5 percent in August due to higher food prices and the start of the school year, Mudher Kasim, deputy governor of the central bank, told Reuters on Tuesday.

"It was coming under two pressures: one was the start of the school year and the other was the effect of the world food crisis resuming everywhere," Kasim said.
